A common question we are asked is “what is the difference between a squat stand and squat rack?”
A squat stand consists of two metal stands that support the barbell across them. These stands feature clips on each post that allow for height adjustment and J-cups to sit the barbell on. A squat rack on the other hand is a single unit that features a height adjustment option, J-cups to rest the barbell but also additional features such as an overhead chin-up bar and spotting arms that are an extra support to the J-cups.
Now that you know the difference between the two types of equipment, there are a few other factors to consider when choosing between the two. How much weight do you aim to be able to lift? Not just now but in the long-term. Different equipment can hold different amounts of weight so it’s great to look into this before making your investment.
Another thing to look at is what other equipment you already have and what equipment you need next.
